Here in Paris there are a lot of talented photographers speaking a lot of different languages. In my experience I can say that talent is important, but a great communication is necessary. If you want great photos, find an English speaking photographer in Paris.
When you take photos of architecture or objects in a studio, talent and preparation are quite everything you need. But when you are working with people, it’s only a part of your job. If you are not able to explain what to do to a person that is not a professional model, the result will be poor. That’s sure.
I can tell it because it happened to me. I had a photoshoot with someone who didn’t speak English, neither French neither Italian.
Well, I’m Italian so I’m quite good with gestures! 😉
But let me tell you something, it has been so difficult!
I waste a lot of energy that I could better use into thinking about photography rather then in mime.
Three good reason to choose an English speaking photographer in Paris.
1) If you are looking for a photoshoot in Paris, it’s your interest to have great photos. To create great pics an easy and fast communication is absolutely necessary.
In fact what make a difference between a good photo and an amazing one are details. And it’s quite difficult to correct the little details when you don’t have any language in common with your client.
2) During your photoshoot in Paris there are moments in which you are taking pics but there are a lot of moments in which you are just walking together from a locations to another or simply from a great spot to another and these are not death moments. This moments are precious. Because it’s in these moments that you have the opportunity to talk, to know each other. And a great alchemy will improve the quality of the photos.
3) Imagine. You are in the middle of the photoshoot in Paris, and you have an idea about a photo that you want. Now you have to explain it to someone who didn’t speak your language. Definitely it will be fun to try to explain what you want with gestures, but not very effective.
It’s nice to do the mime game with friends but not during the only hour in which you are having a photoshoot in the city of love.
Finally, this is my suggestion: find an English speaking photographer in Paris or, if you don’t speak english, a photographer with whom you have at least a language in common.
I fluently speak English, French and Italian. Oh well, I also can say “Меня зовут Бруно” in Russian and
“Kartoffel” in German. 😀
That being said, I hope you choose me for my talent and my taste in photography because I’m not a translator but a photographer! Here is the PORTFOLIO OF MY PHOTOSHOOTS IN PARIS.
I hope you’ll love my style.
